Lake Guntersville State Park hosts final weekend of 2013 Eagle Awareness program

GUNTERSVILLE, Alabama – For nearly three decades, Lake Guntersville State Park has hosted Eagle Awareness Weekends to bring attention to bald eagles after they became an endangered species.

Although bald eagles were removed in 2007 from the Federal List of Endangered and Threatened, the park continues the tradition honoring the majestic birds of prey that are a symbol of American pride.

Friday begins the last weekend of the 2013 Eagle Awareness Program, which offers educational programs, guided field trips and lodging each weekend in January through the third week in February.
